For you created my inmost being;
    you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
    your works are wonderful,
    I know that full well.

Psalm 139:13-14

SOUL is committed to maintaining high standards of care and competence,
and is pleased to be a National Maternity Housing Coalition affiliate through
Heartbeat International.

Our Beginnings

SOUL began as a calling to create a retreat for women in unplanned pregnancies. This getaway would encourage soul searching to determine the best decision - parenting or adoption - for the lives of women and their unborn babies. God planted the seed and the vision was born.

To better understand these women, founder Dianne Miley began working at Lowcountry Pregnancy Center. The need for safe housing prompted the vision to grow to maternity housing. We are working toward the goal of a maternity sanctuary that will provide educational workshops in an environment that encourages faith. The mentors of SOUL offer guidance on self-care, healthy relationships, and nurturing family life.

To create an opportunity for residents and graduates to learn career skills and earn income, we hope to open a tea room in the future. While providing operating funds for the home, a tea room will connect SOUL with the community.

SOUL believes in the continued support of mothers through ongoing friendship. See Services page for what we are doing now.
